My aim in creating artwork is exploring moods and emotions.  I enjoy painting portraits and figures because the subject itself allows for expressing a myriad of human emotions.  I have recently started working on sea and skyscapes and have found that the mood and emotions that the viewer experiences through this subject matter can be equally compelling for an artist to explore.

I work in oils because of the richness of the pigments and use a limited palette of subdued colors.  I find this approach allows me to concentrate on how the painting communicates the mood I'm aiming to express.
